以前，バリチェロは佐藤に対して「佐藤はアマチュア」発言をしたことがある．そのため，「てことはバリチェロはプロ?」という憶測の元，バリチェロ＝プロとの認識が広まった．
具体的には，2004年のヨーロッパGPでの追突騒ぎの後，
